The BBC decided it was time to revisit the subject in 2009 and I was fortunate to get Rageh Omaar on board to present. Among other discoveries, John Jackson, who co-led the 1978 scientific examination had developed a theory that could have explained "scientifically" why the C14 date was skewed.
The theory was put to the test by Dr. Christopher Ramsey, the Head of the Oxford Radio Carbon Unit. His concluding statement is of some significance. Ramsey was, as a student, present throughout the whole C14 test affair. In view of everything contained within the film he concludes that the time must come when the subject is revisited "…if we are ever to make sense of this intriguing cloth".
